Inspiring Company of the Month: Ecosia
What They Do: A search engine that helps plant trees.
Summary: Ecosia was set up by founder Christian Kroll as a way to “make the world a greener, better place”. The company is, in its simplest terms, a competitor to Google (and other search engines) and makes money in the same way – through advertising revenues. The big difference with Ecosia is that it gives away the majority of its profits, so it can facilitate tree-planting projects in 15+ countries. The company has over 15 million users, and estimates it takes around 45 user search to raise 0.22 Euros (which equates to planting one tree).
Inspiring Person of the Month: Sebbie Hall
A Lichfield teenager called Sebbie Hall has raised over £3500 for charities that support young people through his random acts of kindness. Sebbie has learning and physical difficulties but did not let this stop him – he’s been watering gardens, washing cars, and even handing out biscuits to strangers, and has helped over 300 people so far. Thank you Sebbie! The world needs more selfless people like you!
