Welcome to another edition of Positive News and Honestly Good Inspiration. Our mission with this blog series is to bring you stories of hope, introduce amazing individuals, and bring you positive news, so you can find happiness and light during these challenging times.

Inspiring Quotes of the Month:

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” -Thomas A. Edison

“You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them.” -Michael Jordan

“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” – Aristotle Onassis

“The greater danger for most of us isn’t that our aim is too high and miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” – Michelangelo

“Learning never exhausts the mind.” – Leonardo da Vinci

Inspiring Company of the Month: Notpla

The Notpla team are on a mission to make sustainable packaging that replaces single-use plastic. Their products are made from ‘Notpla’ which is a natural blend of seaweed and plants.

This inspiring team consists of designers, chemists, engineers and entrepreneurs who are trying to do what hasn’t been done before.

Their packaging is biodegradable and edible, and can be used for all sorts of things, including films for dried goods, and as takeaway box liners. In their own words, they ‘make packaging disappear naturally’. We’re so impressed and will be keeping an eye on their future product development to see if it includes freezer-friendly lines too. Keep up the amazing work guys!

Inspiring Person of the Month: Sarah Lamptey

Some of you may recognise Sarah from our Honestly Good newsletter. Sarah’s dedication to helping others touched our hearts, so we’ve chosen her as our Inspiring Person of the Month.

Sarah is not only the founder of ShowerBox but she’s also a successful TV presenter, and writer.

Her ShowerBox story goes like this…after finishing Uni, Sarah began volunteering for Simon Community (a small organisation that helps rough sleepers), and Crisis – the national charity for homeless people.

After a conversation with a guest at a winter shelter, she learned about the massive need for showering facilities in London for homeless people.

So, she took on the challenge to do something to help. After a successful fundraising campaign, she was able to buy a trailer and convert it into a mobile shower unit. And so, ShowerBox was born – a free and secure box that contains showers and changing rooms for rough sleepers.

Every weekend, the trailer goes to St Giles Church in London and gives people access to showers, hot drinks, snacks, toiletries, and more.

If you’d like to find out more about ShowerBox – here’s their website, or you can find the JustGiving page here.

His shots of birds that are so beautiful, it’s hard to believe they’re real (but trust us, they really are!) This photo is a pink robin – absolutely incredible.

Inspiring Video of the Month: Go with your gut feeling | Magnus Walker

We discovered this classic TED Talk recently and just HAD to share it with you. Magnus Walker is a man who has always followed his gut feeling, and doing this has guided him to some incredible opportunities.
One thing we love is how he faces life with positivity in every situation. He’s brave and fearless, and as a result of that, life has been an incredible adventure. We dare you to watch this and not feel inspired to follow your gut more!
