CoFarm Cambridge is an organic community farm that was created in 2019 to rethink biodiversity loss, climate change, and to tackle food insecurity in Cambridge.
Using a seven-acre privately owned agricultural field, a team of over 300 volunteers have worked together to create a farm and grow crops. So far, during the pandemic, they have donated over 10 tonnes of freshly-grown produce (worth around £45,000) to nine community food hubs around Cambridge. Cambridge is the first co-farming pilot project of the parent company – CoFarm Foundation, so we’re excited to see what amazing things they do next.

Our inspiring person of the month is a Polish javelin thrower – Maria Magdalena Andrejczyk who recently competed in the Tokyo Olympics and won a silver medal. Most athletes train their whole lives for the Olympics and their medals become their most prized possession. This is where Maria is different. She decided to use her medal to help someone in need and announced she would auction off her medal to help pay for an operation for an 8-month-old boy – Miloszek Malysa, who needed life-saving surgery in the United States.
After seeing her announcement, a Polish convenience store chain “Zabka” decided to step in and make the highest bid of $125,000. However, instead of collecting the prize, they said they would let Maria keep the medal as they “were moved by the beautiful and extremely noble gesture of our Olympian.”
We applaud both Maria and Zabka for such selfless gestures and send our love and prayers to baby Miloszek.
We just had to share this video we found of a Brazilian school teacher encouraging her class to greet her “their way”, including hugs. Imagine how different life would be if every school was like this.
This website was invented by someone called Eric Nakagawa after he was having a bad day at work and asked a friend to send him something to cheer him up. He received a happy cat photo, and so the two friends started a website dedicated to cats being funny. The website has evolved, attracted millions of fans, and transformed to feature all sorts of animal memes that are designed to make you laugh, such as a cat version of Bohemian Rhapsody – “Bohemian Catsody”. Pure Genius.
